Genuine Italian Brahma FD2D UV flame sensor for industrial burners and boilers. In stock, complete CO/CQ documentation, best price.
Product Overview
Brahma FD2D UV Flame Sensor is a UV flame detector using an ultraviolet-sensitive photodiode, designed for gas and oil burner systems with blue flames.
The Brahma FD2D uses a preamplified silicon sensing element with a UV detection peak of approximately 310 nm. The FD2 model features lateral light detection, while the D designation identifies the version designed for compatible Brahma digital control boxes.

The FD2D operates on a 220–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz supply, with a power consumption of 1 VA and a detection range of 290–350 nm. The sensor has an 8° reception angle, a maximum output current of 500 µA, and an operating temperature range of −20°C to +70°C.
Operating Principle
The Brahma FD2D uses a silicon photodiode to detect the ultraviolet component emitted by the flame. When the burner is operating, UV radiation within the detection range is received by the sensor and converted into a signal sent to the burner control unit to detect the presence of the flame.
The FD2D has a detection range of 290–350 nm, with a peak detection wavelength of approximately 310 nm. The sensor functions as the flame detection element, while control, monitoring, and safety functions are managed by a compatible digital burner control unit.

The dimensional drawing helps verify the sensor construction and mounting position before replacement. The FD2D uses the FD2 design with lateral light detection and a mounting layout with a 34 mm center-to-center distance between the two mounting holes, corresponding to 17 mm from the center to each hole, and a Ø17.5 mm central opening.
Key Features
The Brahma FD2D uses a preamplified silicon sensing element to detect the ultraviolet component of the flame. This makes the sensor suitable for gas and oil burner systems with blue flames where flame monitoring is based on UV radiation.
The FD2 model detects light from the side, making it suitable for installation positions where the flame is monitored laterally. The 8° reception angle defines the sensor observation field inside the combustion chamber.
The FD2D is designed for use with compatible Brahma digital control boxes. For maintenance or replacement, the burner control unit model, light detection direction, and sensor connection specifications should be checked to select the correct configuration.
Comparison of Brahma FD2D and FD2/N UV Flame Sensors
The Brahma FD2D and FD2/N are both UV flame sensors using photodiodes and feature lateral light detection. The main difference between the two models is the type of burner control unit they are designed to work with.
| Feature | Brahma FD2D | Brahma FD2/N |
| Sensor Type | UV Sensor / Photodiode | UV Sensor / Photodiode |
| Application | Gas and oil burners | Gas and oil burners |
| Detection Range | 290–350 nm | 290–350 nm |
| Reception Angle | 8° | 8° |
| Light Detection Direction | Lateral | Lateral |
| Control Unit Type | Digital control boxes | Analog control boxes |
The FD2D is designed for compatible Brahma digital control boxes, while the FD2/N is designed for Brahma analog control boxes. When replacing the sensor, check the existing burner control unit model to select the correct version.
Applications of the Brahma FD2D UV Flame Sensor
The Brahma FD2D is used in burner systems that require flame detection and monitoring through the ultraviolet component of the flame. It is suitable for:
- Gas burner systems with blue flames
- Oil burner systems with blue flames
- Systems using compatible Brahma digital control boxes
- UV flame sensor maintenance and replacement
- Applications requiring lateral flame detection
- Systems requiring UV detection within the 290–350 nm range
The FD2D is suitable for burners with closed combustion chambers and installation environments shielded from external light. During installation, the 8° detection field should be directed toward the flame. Glass should not be placed between the sensor and the flame, and the sensor cable should not be routed together with ignition or high-voltage cables.
