Product Overview

Brahma T8 Ignition Transformer is a 2-pole ignition device designed for high thermal power burners or pressurised burners using light or heavy oil. The T8 model is particularly suitable for systems subject to a high number of restarts, such as steam boilers, cooking ovens, and similar oil burner applications.

The T8 ignition transformer operates on a 220 V – 50 Hz power supply and provides an RMS output voltage of 2 × 6.5 kV and a peak output voltage of 2 × 11 kV. The unit has an effective output current of 33 mA, a power consumption of 460 VA, and a duty cycle of 33% over 3 minutes.

Operating Principle

The T8 ignition transformer converts the input power supply into high voltage at its two secondary outputs. This high voltage is transmitted to the ignition electrodes to generate an electric spark, enabling ignition of the fuel-air mixture inside the burner.

The T8 model belongs to the column-type transformer series with two primary windings and two secondary windings. The components are separated by a high-insulation separator, while high-voltage insulation is achieved using vacuum-cast polyester resin. The transformer housing is made of stove-enamelled pressed metal.

The recommended distance between the ignition electrodes is 3–5 mm. The standard supply cable length is 700 mm, and the device operates within a temperature range of −10°C to +35°C.

Installation Notes

Before installing, connecting, or disconnecting the transformer, the power supply must be switched off. The transformer earth and the electrical system earth must be correctly connected, and a single earth point should be arranged to prevent earth conductors from forming ring paths.

The device can be mounted in any position. Ignition cables should be kept as short as possible, routed separately close to ground planes, and high-voltage cables should be kept away from other electrical cables to reduce interference.
